Here is a snapshot from the Trunk or Treat activity at the Church on Wednesday (October 28). They also went to to a Haunted Forest, several Krogers on Tuesday (when Kroger did its Halloween event), and did actual trick-or-treating on October 29 and Halloween.

Hikaru achieved the rank of Star in Boy Scouts

Hikaru missed the Court of Honor in August as he was out of town, but today he finally received his Star. Congratulations Hikaru!

Noah's 6th birthday

Noah celebrated his 6th birthday on Thurdsay. Noah was born on October 1, 2003 in Japan. He was born premature so he was placed in the NICU for about a month.

Noah swam by himself for the first time.

Road Trip 2009

Took a road trip with the boys about a week or so ago. We went to the Grand Canyon, Mesa (stayed at my older brother Darin's place), Vegas (stayed at my older sister Maria's place), St. George (visited with some of my relatives there), Zion National Park, Moab (river rafting on the Colorado), Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, SLC (stayed at my mom's place) and Timpanogos Caves. Dropped the boys off at their mom's (Bountiful) and then I headed back to Ohio. Put over 6000 miles on the Flex.

Spring Vacation 2009

We just got back from our spring vacation. Great weather everyday. Got to see Fuji-san up close for the first time. Nothing like seeing it for real. We went to Tokyo, Fuji Q Highland, Nagoya, Monkey Park and Eigamura (Kyoto).

Visit to USAF Museum

We visited the Air Force Museum and Wright Brothers Memorial today in Dayton. It is a huge musuem. I highly recommend it if you like airplanes.

Winter Vacation for Noah and Hikaru

End of an Era

Hikaru had his dream come true when he went visit Japan just in time to see the end of the Monkey Park monorail. It ended operations on December 27, 2008. It was special to him as he rode this monorail many times growing up in Inuyama. The station was just up the street from where we lived.

Visit to Disney World

So, after swinging by DC on Thursday night, we kept on driving. At first we thought maybe New York again, but Disney World was our destiny. We arrived Friday night rested up and spent the whole day at the Magic Kingdom on Saturday. We drove back through the night but due to quite a few traffic jams coming home, we didn't get home till Sunday evening.

Since family plans for Thanksgiving Day didn't come together this year, we decided to take a road trip. We drove to DC on Thursday and toured it at night. It was fantastic! Weather was a tad cold but very clear. No crowds. Viewing these sites at night is definitely the way to go.

Hikaru got his 1st Class

Hikaru got his 1st Class today. He is really enjoying scouts. He also got the award given out each court of honor to the scout that has earned the most points.

First ever visit to Cedar Point

Went up to Mid Ohio to see the races today. A lot different than watching it on TV. Much more exiting in life.

We went on a road trip to Canada and various places in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Vermont as pictured in the following map. It was a lot of fun. We especially enjoyed stopping at various historical LDS sites.

Hiking in Hocking Hills

We went hiking in Hocking Hills today. Fantastic scenery and great hiking path between falls.

Paper construction challenge at COSI

Went to COSI today and competed in the paper construction challenge to build the tallest tower. Had a lot of fun. They didn't actually award 1st place or anything, but we had the tallest one while we were there.

Visit to the Zoo

Visited the Columbus Zoo today. We go there pretty often. The tigers were up and moving around for once.

Bulding a Fort (Winter 07-08)

Had a great time building a fort the other day. Usually the snow here isn't suited for making anything, but this day it stuck together pretty good.
